Into September Update
Hi everyone!
It is a cool, rainy day here in Boulder. I don't mind the colder weather, but I can't say I'm a huge fan of the rain. I know another large chunk of time has gone by since my last post, but life has just been CRAZY busy with lots going on! I feel as though every minute of my life for the next month (at least) is already accounted for. I will try and do my best to fill you in on what I've been up to and what my plans for the future currently look like. I'm mainly going to focus on the more major events, and the ones that I can actually remember.
On Sunday, August 24, I got the opportunity to go to see Chris August's acoustic concert in Cheyenne, Wyoming, thanks to Choe, whom I met at the airport while waiting for the shuttle back to Boulder. Choe runs the business "Cheyenne Christian Concerts", and he generously gave me a free VIP ticket to this concert. The concert itself was a lot of fun! I got to meet and talk with Chris August, meet Choe's family, and enjoy celebrating and praising God through awesome music. :) Choe and I have continued to stay in touch, and I will (more likely than not) be attending more of the concerts he brings to Cheyenne, WY in the future.
On Saturday, August 30, I met Jake and Bryan in Golden for a hike up Lookout Mountain in Golden, CO. The hike was really fun, the weather was beautiful, and the views were great! After the hike, I headed back to Boulder to donate blood. Random, I know. I had tried donating blood a few times within the past couple years and I never could because my iron was always too low. Thankfully I was actually able to donate this time! After that, I went home to eat and pack a few things before heading back to Jake's place in Denver for a night of BBQ, time by the pool/hot tub, and games! We had a great group of people there, and it was a super fun night! I ended up crashing on Jake's (super comfy) couch for the evening, and I headed back to Boulder early Sunday morning for church. It was an overall awesome day. :)
Aside from these two days, life has been continuing on as normal. I'll quickly go over a few things happening in the near future:
I signed up to run the Hot Chocolate 15k on Sunday, October 5 in Denver! The farthest I've ever ran is 7 miles (which was a while ago...), and this race is 9.3 miles, but my endurance is pretty high, so I think I'll be fine as long as my knees and lungs hold up! There was a 5k option, but the price just to run a 5k didn't seem worth it to me. Plus, the 15k finishers get an awesome medal in the shape of a chocolate bar!! You also get a giant treat mug with hot chocolate and yummy goodies with hot chocolate sauce for dipping at the end of the race! Sounds like a good reason for running to me! :)
My last first day of school has come and gone, and the fall semester (and my last semester) of school is already chugging along at full speed. I'm taking two classes - "Stress, Dependencies, and Addictions", and "Organizational Behavior and Sustainability". My stress class is actually really interesting so far, and the professor is fairly laid back, which I like. The sustainability class on the other hand is definitely going to give me a run for my money...the course load is quite high for a 300 level class, and the expectations of the professor are a bit over the top in my opinion. Plus, the material itself isn't exactly easy to understand. I know I'll be fine as long as I stay on top of things! I'm also taking a 1 credit independent study with one of my favorite professors, Scott, but the only requirement for that is reading a book that I chose and writing a paper on it, so nothing too hard!
Tonight I am going out for sushi with my new friend, Amanda! We met at the park one afternoon and have been talking every since. I am very excited to spend some non-kid time with Amanda, and have my first real sushi experience! :)
This weekend, Jake and I are planning on heading up to his friends (vacant) condo at Beaver Creek Lodge near Avon, CO. Plans are still tentative, but I think we might do some mountain biking and general exploring, which should result in a fun weekend! We're still not sure of who else may be coming, but even if it just ends up being the two of us I know we'll have a great time!
Anyways, I believe that is all I have to currently share. There's still lots I didn't talk about, so I will try and post updates more frequently as events unfold. With so much stuff going on theres more to talk about, but that also means there's less time to write about it, but I will do my best. :)
I hope everyone is having a spectacular September so far!

P.S. I am going to be creating a special blog post very soon asking for your opinions on another blog idea that I have been considering. Stay tuned!
