Summer 2015 Update
Hello all!
Time is flying by, summer is in full swing, and I have been staying busy, busy, busy! I only have about three weeks left here in Colorado, so I'm doing my best to make the most if it! Because it has been so long since my last update, I am going to focus on recapping the major events that have happened since my last post.
From Friday, June 12th to Sunday, June 14th, I traveled to Utah for my cousin Rachel and Nate's wedding! My flight arrived in Utah Friday morning, and I met up with my aunt Karen and cousin Katrina who flew in from Texas before my brother Christian picked us all up at the airport and brought us straight to the "Luncheon with the Bride". The luncheon was held at my cousin Elise's house, and the entire afternoon was lovely! Later that evening, we all met up at Dr. O. Roi Hardy Park for an amazing pizza dinner and some fun outdoor activities. I can't remember where the pizza was from, but it was some serious pizza! After the pizza dinner, my brother and I headed back to his apartment in Heber City, which is an adorable little city about 50 minutes away from SLC. The following morning (Saturday, June 13th) was wedding day! The wedding was at the Salt Lake City temple, which is a truly beautiful place! There are gorgeous flowers all around the temple grounds, and all of the buildings are beautifully designed. After the wedding, family photos were taken outside of the temple, and then we left for the reception at West Ridge Golf Course. The venue had a beautiful view, there was music and dancing, and the food was delicious!! The chicken marsala sauce was my absolute favorite! Overall, the entire day was great. My last day in Utah (Sunday, June 14th) was pretty low key. My brother and I went to church and the gym in the morning/afternoon, I packed my suitcase, and then we did a little sight seeing before he took me to the airport. I had an awesome time in Utah. Not only did I get to be with my cousin on her special day, but I got to see my brother and spend time with him, which was really wonderful. :)
Jumping ahead a couple weeks...on Sunday, June 28th, my best friend Amanda and I went to Colorado Springs! We started our girls day with a mandatory trip to Caribou coffee before hitting the road. Our first stop was the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo, which was a blast! It was a gorgeous sunny day, the animals were all out and about, and we even got to feed the giraffes! After we left the zoo, we stopped at Chipotle for lunch before heading to Garden of the Gods. As we were headed to Garden of the Gods, a nasty thunderstorm was creeping over the mountains, and we quickly realized that our time at the garden may be cut short. We parked, took some pictures, and then decided to just drive through the rest of the garden. As we were driving, the wind picked up and the lightning and thunder started followed closely by rain and hail, so we decided to get hit the road. Traffic on the way home was pretty slow, but the time passed quickly with the help of sunshine, good music, and even better company!
I have had the past couple weeks off of work, so I decided to spend a couple days up at my cousin's condo in Fraser, CO, near Winter Park Resort! I arrived on the evening of Wednesday, July 1st and stayed until the morning of Friday, July 3rd. On Thursday, July 2nd, I went on a 2 hour horseback trail ride in the mountains! I was originally going to go alone, but I ended up going with a couple and their three little girls, which made the outing a bit more fun! My horse, Piano Man, was very well behaved, although a bit impatient at times...kind of like me! Haha. If we stopped for too long, he would just try to keep on walking. The views of the mountains were gorgeous, and the overall experience was so amazing! It made me wish we still had horses at my grandma's farm back home in Minnesota. After the trail ride, I headed back to the condo to eat lunch before exploring "The Village" (shopping center) at Winter Park. That evening, I decided to go see the movie "Inside Out", which I loved! I'm definitely going to buy it when it comes out on DVD. I ate some dinner and then grabbed my camera to take a little walk and get pictures of the sunset. Fact: Colorado has some absolutely breathtaking sunsets! The next morning I went on a short walk, browsed a couple more shops, and then headed out to meet Amanda for some frozen yogurt before going home. Being in the mountains is so peaceful and relaxing, and I thoroughly enjoyed my time there!
For the Fourth of July, I went to my friend Katie's parent's place for their 4th of July party! There was lots of delicious food and good conversations. We went swimming in the pool after dinner before we kicked off the evening with dancing and fireworks in the backyard. We didn't go anywhere to see a fireworks show, but from the backyard you could see nearly 8-10 different shows going on off in the distance in all the different cities! I was such a beautiful sight, and it really helped me to remember and cherish the true meaning of the day.
Well, I think I have you caught up on all of the major stuff that has
been going on in my life! I have a few more fun adventures planned before I make the move back to Minnesota, and I will do my best to do at least one more blog post before I move on the 28th of July!
I hope you are all doing wonderfully, enjoying summer, and living life to the fullest!
