233 Days. 335,520 Minutes. 20,131,200 Seconds. 1 Blog Post.

I moved back to Minnesota 1 year, 1 month, and 16 days ago.

59 weeks.
413 days.
9,912 hours.
594,720 minutes.
35,683,200 seconds.

A lot has happened since then. If you only knew all the stories that tiny little three letter italicized word holds. While a lot has happened and much has changed, there’s also been a lot of stuff, well, not happening. So why haven’t I published a blog post in 233 days? I wish I could say that I was busy saving the world one heroic feat at a time, bottle feeding baby pandas in China, or climbing Mount Everest, but I regret to inform you that that is simply not the case (I know, I’m thoroughly disappointed, too). The main reason I haven’t posted a blog boils down to one silly, simple reason: lack of motivation stemming from exaggerated standards fabricated by my own brain. Like I said: silly. I’ve had many ideas for blog topics pop into my head over the past few months, but if the topic wasn’t witty enough, thought provoking enough, awe inspiring enough, earth shattering, or downright life changing, then I would scrap the idea all together. If it wasn’t “just right” per my standards, then it just wasn’t going to happen. So what’s a girl to do? Well I’m glad you asked! I’ve come up with simple three step plan to get me back on track:

1) Write a blog post
2) Don’t worry about the content being “just right”
3) Publish the darn blog post

I think we can all agree that we spend way too much of our precious time worrying about trivial things, which ultimately holds us back from truly experiencing and enjoying life. With that being said, I am extending a personal initiation to you—yes, you!—to join my challenge “Worry Free with Janie B”! *Ok, so I may have just come up with that on the spot, but we’re going to roll with it. So here’s how this challenge works: think of a trivial worry in your life, apply the three step plan to this worry (see the fool proof template below), put the plan into practice, and watch as you transform from an ordinary caterpillar to a beautiful butterfly! For those of you who don’t speak “Jane-ese”, here is the “Normal Adult English” translation: watch yourself become a changed person as you are released from the weight of your trivial worries and become more open to the wonderful experiences life has to offer!

Before you dive head first into this riveting challenge, I want to share with you the secret to the ravishing success of “Worry Free with Janie B!” Now…this is tip-top-super-secret inside info, but because I like you (heck, if you’re still reading this blog post then I really like you) I am giving you permission to share this tip-top-super-secret info with every human being you encounter on a daily basis: your friends, your grandma, your dentist, the bus driver, the CEO of Facebook, the homeless person on the street, Beyoncé, your dog…ok, I think you get the picture—tell everyone. So what is this big secret? The secret is this: in order for this challenge to be effective, you need to…*drum roll please*…own your awesomeness. That’s right. You. Are. Awesome. You need to abandon your negative thoughts, worries, doubts, and the opinions of others, and adopt positive thoughts, confidence, joy, and an optimistic attitude instead! This isn’t a change that will happen overnight of course, but if you challenge yourself a little bit every day then you will be well on your way to a happier, more stress free version of your fabulous self! After all, “if it doesn’t challenge you, it doesn’t change you.” I truly believe that if you believe in yourself and stay positive, you can achieve anything. So worry less about trivial things and what others think about you or the choices you make in your life, because the only thing that truly matters is that the choices you are making in your life are feeding your soul, making your heart happy, and enriching your life.

Ok, you may now dive headfirst into this challenge!

Fool Proof Three Step Plan Template
1) What your trivial worry is holding you back from
2) What you’re not going to worry about
3) Complete the action and bask in your personal victory!

In conclusion, do I feel as though I got this blog post “just right”? Not by a long shot. As I mentioned before, a lot has happened since I moved back home to Minnesota that I want to blog about (as well was present day happenings), but there is just no possible way for me to condense all of those thought, feelings, and ideas into one post. My plan is to keep things simple by publishing a post weekly (bi-weekly at the least) and writing shorter posts that focus on one topic every week. I need to remember that it doesn’t really matter what I write about, so long as I don’t stop writing.

Thanks for reading everyone! I’m always open to topic suggestions (the topic can be about anything), and I will do my best to accommodate those requests in future posts. Stay tuned for more exciting blog posts in the future! Stay awesome, friends.

♥ Jane
