Halloween, Lasagna Dinner, Random

I'm still alive!! Not that anyone was worried or anything, but it feels like it's been a light year and a half since I've last posted. I'm only going to cover the major things that have been going on, mostly because those are the only things I can remember to be honest. Time is flying by!  I can't believe it's November 4th already.

Thursday, October 31st (Halloween)
Let us go wayyy back to last Thursday when it was Halloween! My last minute costume was a "ceiling fan" which actually worked out pretty well. I wasn't your typical "attached to an actual ceiling and spins round and round" ceiling fan, but rather I was a fan of ceilingsa literal ceiling fan (Go, ceilings! Woo!). Anyways, half the reason I even made a "costume" was so that Amy and I could get $3.00 Chipotle that night. After arriving at Chipotle and standing in a long long long line in a crazy windstorm, we finally got our food. Based on how busy it was and how fast their production line was moving, I'm pretty sure they would have given a $3.00 meal to anyone, costume or no costume. They hardly looked at you as you got to the register to pay. Regardless, it was still fun to dress up a little bit anyways. :) Amy and I took our Chipotle back to her place to eat and hang out for a little while. On my way home from her place, the crazy windstorm continued and a tumbleweed the size of a small hippo rolled across the road in front of me. I felt like I was in a movie or something, because I have NEVER seen a tumbleweed that large before. I kid you not, the top of it came up  past the window of my car. It was bizarre, but what would Halloween be without a little bit of abnormality throughout the day, right? ;)

Saturday, November 2nd
Saturday marked my one month anniversary here in Colorado! Some days it feels like I've
Lasagna!
been here longer than that, and other days it seems shorter; it all depends on the context in which the topic arises. The most eventful thing that happened this day was that I go to go over to Andrew's place to have dinner with him and his boyfriend, Ben. We made a delicious lasagna that I (kinda sorta) got to help make. I cut the fresh mozzarella, helped stir the meat concoction a bit, and placed a few cheese slices here and there, but otherwise Andrew worked his lasagna magic and created a delicious dinner. We didn't eat until around 10:00pm, because we didn't start making the lasagna until I got there around 7:45pm. After we had lasagna we watched a bit of the movie Flight on Netflix and ate the delicious chocolate pecan cake I bought/brought from a bakery called "Boulder Baked", which was also very good. Overall, it was a fun night! I kind of spaced out about my one monthiversary until I was driving home late that night, but it was a good unintentional celebratory dinner.

Sunday, November 3rd
Sunday morning I woke up and went to the adult forum at Mt. View UMC again. I'm really enjoying this series of learning about "the greatest generation". I'm finding that I'm learning a lot of different life lessons through this class and how God can work in different ways in people's lives. One of my favorite quotes from the lesson:

"Use it up, wear it out, make it do, or do without."
(The greatest generation was frugal)...

I'm really glad that this quote came up, because I've gotten into a habit of making sure to ask myself, "Do I really need this, or do I just want this?" whenever I go to buy something. If I decided I don't need it, then I'll step away from the purchase for a while and reevaluate the situation again later if it comes back up. I find this quote to be a great reminder of how you can get buy with a lot less than you'd think, or at least make do with what you have.

Sunday night I went to the Wesley Fellowship again and I got to meet a few more new people and also continue to get to know some people I had already met, so that was a good night, too! We had lasagna (lasagna again? why not!) for dinner after the worship service, and before I headed back home I sat and listened to a guy named Quinn play the piano. He also plays the drums for the worship team and is overall talented. Listening to him play the piano made me miss being able to sit down and play back home. I'm thinking maybe next week I'll get their early and play around on the piano and maybe get involved with their worship music group; if only I had brought my violin!

Random things:
1. I bought some adorable Disney stamps, so you could potentially see one on a letter coming to you! If you want to write a letter but don't have my address, you can email me at jane137@aol.com and I can give you my address through there. :)

2. The red cups have returned to Starbucks! They're so festive and just help get you in the spirit of these holiday months. Now that it's November it seems like it's acceptable to start thinking about not only Thanksgiving, but Christmas as well. Back home I used to put off all Christmas stuff until December if I could help it, but out here I'm embracing the waves of nostalgia as they come.

Anyways, I think that is about all I have to say for now! This week is technically my last part-time week, but next week Beth and Brian come to visit on Thursday (YAY!) so my schedule is probably going to change around a bit. I hope everyone had a fun Halloween, a wonderful weekend, and remember to make the most of your day!

    1. Well thank you, Andrew! I think I can take credit for probably 1% of it. Haha.
