Plot Twist! Part 2

My my my...December has sure been a crazy month. So, you know how in my last post I talked about how there's never really a "normal" week? Well that little trend continued into this week..

All throughout the beginning of the week things were going smoothly, and I truly believed that this week would be a "normal" week. Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday went by without a hitch, and the weather was beautiful; on Wednesday it even  reached 68°! Torsten and I got out for a long walk and enjoyed the beautiful day. But then...*insert dark, dramatic tune here*...cue Thursday.

Thursday is when things took a slight turn for the worse. I woke up a couple times in the middle of the night with a slight stomach ache, but I shrugged it off and went back to sleep. My alarm went off and I woke up still not feeling the greatest, but I again, shrugged it off, got dressed, and headed to the bathroom to get ready. I brushed my teeth, straightened my bangs and put them back, and then I noticed I really wasn't feeling well. *Skipping over some gory details here*. Long story short, I went to go tell Amber I wasn't feeling well and ended up fainting, which has never happened to me before. It was definitely a freaky experience coming to and not knowing what happened, where you are, what time it is, etc. Anyways, I wasn't out for very long (10 seconds maybe?), but 911 was already called and first responders and an ambulance showed up with what seemed like an army of attractive male medical professionals. At this point I thought (or hoped) I was still out of it. I definitely didn't look my best just having woken up, still in my pajamas, with only half my hair done, and being sick on top of it. Oh, and just passing out. The whole ordeal was slightly embarrassing, but I guess it was better to be safe than sorry. After they attached those sticky things to my legs, chest, and stomach, took down information, asked a lot of questions, and explained that vasovagal syncope was the fancy term for why I fainted, they wheeled me out to the ambulance where two nice guys continued to do work ups and inserted an IV. The ER (I think it was the ER...) was pretty much the same; they took blood samples, ran an EKG, and everything came back positive. My blood pressure and pulse were both very low, which is pretty typical for me. My pulse at the ER stayed around a constant 50, causing the little machine to beep incessantly, so the nurse set the alarm to go off when my pulse reached 45, which it thankfully it never did. So we finally got out of the ER and headed home. The rest of the day was brutal, but I woke up this morning feeling much better. I'm assuming what I got was the stomach bug that Eric, Amber, and Torsten had last week; I just thought that if I was going to get it I would have gotten it earlier. Overall, I am fine, so no worries! :)

It is now Friday, and I am feeling much better! Probably at 80-85% now. I ate some cream of wheat with 1/2 a banana for breakfast, which tasted amazing after not eating for 32 hours, and I'm already thinking about lunch. It's nice having my appetite back, and I hope it is here to stay. After being out of commission the past couple days, I'm going to have to work extra hard tomorrow to get all my last minute shopping and packing done for when I come back home to visit Minnesota early, early Sunday morning. :)

Overall, this past week has been yet another lesson of how things don't always go according to plan, but we've just gotta live, learn, and keep trekking. I hope everyone's week wasn't quite as turned upside down as mine, but if it was, just remember: "this too shall pass". :)

♥ Jane

P.S. Just wanted to give a shout out to Amber and Eric for being very understanding, caring, and hospitable over the past couple days. Thanks a bunch!!
