Plot Twist!

It's Friday, everyone! You have survived yet another week despite it being Friday the 13th. :) The day is still young though...

If there's one thing I've learned about life over the past couple weeks it's that if you think you're going to have a "normal" week, something WILL come up. For instance...last week I was looking ahead to this current week and thought, "Hmm...not much going on, should be a pretty normal week". God must have heard me or something and decided to shake up my life a bit. Last week (and a bit into this week) I got sick with a sore throat and a stuffy and runny nose. I managed to survive it just fine and recovered in a few days. Monday was pretty uneventful, but on Tuesday Eric came down with a 24hr stomach bug type thing, so he was home Tuesday and Wednesday. So then it was Thursday. All seemed to be well until about 4pm when I realized Torsten wasn't just spitting up a ridiculous amount, but was indeed sick as well. About an hour later, Amber and Eric come home and reported that Amber was sick, too. Aghhhh! I have yet to catch this stomach bug *knocks repeatedly on wood*, and I hope it stays that way. So, as I said, it is now Friday. Amber decided to stay home today to recover with Torsten, so I am on standby nanny mode in case any issues arise.

Aside from being sick, we also had some heat issues on the 6th of December. The natural gas shut off in Gunbarrel, so we didn't have heat in half the house, and later that night our power went out for a couple hours...brrr! We were having some really cold days with highs in the single digits. It kind of reminded me of home, so I oddly didn't mind too much...plus the fact that I knew it would be back up into the 30's and 40's in a few days helped a lot. :)

The not-so-happy news unfortunately continues...my friend, Amy, moved back to MN on Thursday. :( She was my closest friend here in Boulder, so it's going to be sad not having her around to hang out with. On her last day here (Wednesday) we met up for lunch at Panera Bread and had dinner at Pita Pit with the small group (Trish, Tiffany, Amy, and I) that meets at the Wesley Chapel on Tuesday nights. Pita Pit was awesome, and may actually be my new favorite place to eat here. Amy will be in Duluth for Christmas, so we're planning on getting together to grab some Caribou coffee and catch up then. :)

So now that this week is coming to an end, the fact that I leave for MN in just 9 days is really hitting me! It seemed like these two weeks would give me plenty of time to get everything done an finish all my schoolwork...ha! Time flies by so fast sometimes that I wonder if I'm even awake for it. I still have lots and lots to do before next weekend, but I'm confident that I will get everything done. After everything that's been going on, I've decided to face obstacles head on, think "plot twist!", and move on. There's still so much to be thankful for and many things to look forward to in each new day. :)

Stay positive and think happy thoughts everyone!

♥ Jane
