Long time no talk!
It's been a while since my last post, but that's because nothing overly crazy has happened since then. I haven't gotten into any epic battles with mountain lions, I haven't been swimming on beautiful beaches in Barbados, and I haven't saved a litter of puppies from a rabid porcupine. What I have been doing is simply living life. The long weekend was nice, but I didn't get as much accomplished as I had hoped.
On Sunday (19th) I went to Parker, CO to go to church with Shay and Jake, who was in town on business. The testimonies were quite eye opening as usual, and Jake and Shay performed a song together which sounded awesome! There were two quotes that I took away from one of the testimonies:
"Doubt your doubts before you doubt your faith."
It's funny how we never really think to doubt our doubts, but instead we look to blame what is causing our doubts. From now on I'm going to try my hardest to question my doubts more thoroughly before accusing whatever triggered those doubts in the first place.
"Take realistic goals with patience."
This is kind of worded funny, but the way it's worded is why it stuck with me. It reminds me to take all things in stride and to simply be patient. They say "patience is key"; I've apparently lost my key, but I believe that I'm on the right track to finding it.
On Monday (20th) I set a personal record for the farthest distance I've ever run; a 10K! The weather was perfect for running, the trails with the mountain views were beautiful as usual, and it felt great to accomplish a "hidden goal". I'm thinking about signing up to run a race (5K - 10K) sometime this spring if I can find time.
Today (21st) I am back to work and school. I'm taking three classes this semester and also completing my senior capstone project. In some ways I'm glad to be back in school, but at the same time I'm not. It's quite time consuming and stressful, but "one step closer to graduation" is my motivation. At least I can say that I (usually) enjoy what I'm learning about!
Anyways, I hope everyone is doing well as usual! Have a great week, and remember to smile. :)
