Time with Friends | 22nd Birthday
Happy March, everyone!
I awoke this morning to snow falling heavily outside my window, which has unfortunately squashed the many plans I had for the day...time to make a new game plan! I know it's been a while since my last post, so I am going to try and fill you in as much as possible.
Last weekend I got the chance to meet up with a number of different friends, which was so great! On Saturday (22nd) I finally got to to meet up with Aaron at Starbucks in the Denver area. For those of you who don't remember, Aaron is the nice guy I sat next to on the plane back to MN for Christmas break. It was great catching up with him and having a friend to chat about life with. After hanging out with Aaron, I met up with my friend Talia at Costa Vida for lunch (which was delicious!) and afterwards we did a bit of shopping! I haven't had a "girls day" in a long time, so that was really fun. :) I met Talia and a couple other people at an LDS Dance/Speed Dating event that I went to a couple weeks ago. If there's one thing I learned from that event, it's that I will never ever participate in another speed dating activity ever again...it's exhausting, and my inner introvert just couldn't handle it. But! I'm glad I went, because otherwise I wouldn't have met Talia. Unfortunately, Talia lives in CO Springs, but we plan on getting together once a month in Denver (a good halfway meeting point), so that'll give me something to look forward to. :)
Sunday (23rd) was a pretty typical day. In Sunday school we started a new lenten bible study and kicked it off by watching a segment of Discovery Channels "Who Is Jesus" DVD. It was really an interesting video to watch, and it left me with lots to ponder. After church, I got the chance to meet up with a new friend, Zach, who also happens to be from MN (surprise, surprise). We met at Old Chicago for lunch and talked for a couple hours until he had to leave for work. We were supposed to hang out again tonight, but I'm not sure if this snow will allow it since he lives in Loveland, which is about 45+ minutes away from Boulder. I would love to have friends closer, but the ones I have found, although far away, are all pretty great. :)
Wednesday (26th) was my birthday! For some reason it really didn't feel like my birthday. I think a lot of it has to do with just being in a new place, not having many friends here yet, and lack of celebratory events. Despite all that, it still turned out to be an enjoyable day, and I got some lovely birthday cards in the mail! After work, Jake and I went to Starbucks (got free drinks!) and talked for a while. We've never really had the opportunity to do that before, so it was really nice to get to know him a little better. After Starbucks we came back home and had a scrumptious waffle dinner (per my request) and chocolate ganache filled cupcakes (both prepared by Amber and Eric) for dessert. It was all so great, and I'm thankful to have such awesome cousin's in my life. :)
So now, it is Saturday, March 1st. In the time it's taken my to write this post, the snow has lightened up a bit. I may attempt to venture out to the coffee shop down the road to work on some homework and see how the roads are holding up. Homework as fallen by the wayside the past few days, so I really need to hunker down and get going on my assignments and papers. Next weekend (Sunday, 9th), my uncle Eric, aunt Lynn, and cousin Erica and her three kids are going to be coming to visit. It's going to be a full house for sure, but it'll be so nice to see some family and also have some time off.
Oofta...I think I've covered all the "major" events that have been happening in my life. Time continues to fly by at a crazy fast pace, and all the days start to blur together after a while. I'm hoping I'll be able to continue to meet up with friends, stay on top of school, and maintain a balanced life. It's a work in progress. :)
Hope everyone is well! Now that it's March, think spring and happy thoughts!
