Minnesota in March: A Quick Spring Trip
Happy spring, everyone!
It is finally starting to look, and feel, like spring out here in Colorado; the flowers are starting to bloom, the trees are beginning to bud, and the weather is getting warmer! Yippee! It's supposed to reach nearly 80 degrees tomorrow! I may need to run to Target to buy a sundress.
March has been an interesting month for me. I was sick for nearly three weeks straight, from the week of my birthday until my trip back to MN where I continued to recuperate. Let me tell ya, it wasn't fun, and I'm sure many of you can relate. The highlight of the month was definitely my trip back home to Minnesota! I'll list some of the travel details and highlights below. :)
I flew out of Denver on Saturday, March 14th, and arrived in the cities that afternoon. My aunt Pat (who lives in the cities) was planning on driving to Carlton to attend my graduation party the next day, so she picked me up from the airport and we made the trip back to Carlton together. Oh, and we (of course) stopped at Tobie's to pick up some donuts on the way! Later that evening, my aunt Barb, her friend Jon, and my aunt Carole also came over to enjoy a yummy dinner of chicken noodle soup with dumplings and egg salad sandwiches! For dessert we had the delicious donuts we picked up from Tobie's and some tea. It was so wonderful to have all of my aunts in the area for the weekend to eat good food, catch up, and attend my graduation party the following day!
On Sunday, March 15th, I had a little graduation party after church! It was so nice to see my church family again and to reconnect with non-church people who attended as well. We had cute, spring themed decorations (lots of pinks and yellows), M&Ms, mixed nuts, mints, and (of course) cake! It was such a wonderful little party that created fond memories for me to reminisce about for years to come. I also want to give a BIG shoutout and BIG thank you to my aunt Barb, Jon, and my parents for decorating and setting everything up. :) Everyone who attended truly made my day extra special, so thank you!
On Tuesday, March 17th, my mom and I had a "mommy daughter" day. We went to see the movie "Cinderella", which was really cute, and then ate a delicious lunch at Grandma's Restaurant in Canal Park; their chicken tetrizini is one of my favorites!
Between Wednesday, March 18th and Friday, March 20th, I got the chance to get together with my aunt Lynn and my cousin Erica for coffee in Duluth, and I also got to meet up with my friend Holly for shakes at a local shake shop. It was so nice to see these wonderful people and catch up on what's been happening in our lives. :)
The end of the week was spent preparing for the main reason I went back to Minnesota...my best friend Anna's wedding!! On Friday, March 20th, Anna, myself, and the rest of her bridesmaids (Ruth, Jamie, and Courtney) got our nails done before heading to the church for the wedding rehearsal. After the rehearsal, we went to Anna's parents restaurant, Spirits, for dinner. It was a really fun day!
On Saturday, March 21st, I had the honor of standing by my best friend as she married the love of her life. I was so honored to be a part of her wedding as her maid of honor, and I couldn't be happier for her and her husband, Matt! We got to the church early on Saturday morning to have our hair done, do our makeup, get dressed, take pictures, etc. The morning flew by at warp speed, and before we knew it it was time for Anna to walk down the aisle! It was such a beautiful wedding; Anna was a stunningly beautiful bride, Matt was a remarkably handsome groom, and together they make a beautiful couple. The reception was held a couple hours after the wedding at the Buffalo House near Duluth. The food was very tasty, the music was groovin', and it was an overall wonderful evening! It was so much fun to eat, talk, and dance the night away in celebration of a very special day in my best friend's life. Congrats, again, Anna and Matt! I love you both, and you deserve all the happiness in the world!
On Sunday, March 21st, I woke up, packed my suitcase, and headed to the airport with my dad. Overall, I had a wonderful week back in Minnesota! The weather wasn't nearly as nice as it was in Colorado, but being able to see my family and friends definitely made up for it! :)
I hope everyone is doing well, enjoying the beginning of spring, and loving life! Jane
