Ups & Downs
Happy February!!
Is it really already February? Someone pinch me. Time has been flying by at warp speed, but I guess that's what happens when you stay busy busy busy.
Now that school has started, my days seem to have gotten shorter. My free time after work has now come down to a decision making process including the options of getting homework done, going to the gym, or on a very rare occasion, doing something social or simply staying in. I don't really have time for more than one option, since I've tried to make a habit of being in bed by 9:30pm. So far school has been alright, and I feel like I have a decent handle on my three classes and senior project for the semester. The biggest headache in the school department is trying to figure out exactly what classes I need before I graduate...I calculate four, but my (not so helpful) advisor says I have 28 credits left, which just doesn't make sense. The other problem is that only one of the four classes I need to take is offered online, the other three are not. I'm still waiting to hear back from the registrars office, which will hopefully be soon...I will be way less stressed out when this all gets sorted out. *Sighs*.
One thing that I was really looking forward to this week was going to the Avalanche vs. Wild hockey game this past Thursday (30th), but due to the snow storm warning, I made the decision to not chance the drive. I don't remember the last time I was so disappointed, but in the back of my mind, I knew it was better to be safe than sorry...I probably could have made it there fine, but the drive back would have been potentially disastrous. I gave my tickets to the friend I was going to go with, so it wasn't a total waste, which made me feel a lot better. There will be other games!
It has been snowing the past few days, so I haven't gotten out much. Last night (31st) I decided to make the 1.5 mile trek to King Soopers and Subway to get groceries and dinner. It was cold and lightly snowing, but it felt good to get out and have a little activity in my day. It is still lightly snowing this morning (1st), and I will probably make the same trek this afternoon to the coffee shop right next to King Soopers. I don't really feel like being daring and driving anywhere today. Yes, I know I'm from MN, but what you don't understand is
1. One of the things that I hate most in this world is winter driving, and
2. Winter driving in CO isn't like winter driving back in MN. It's more city like driving here, and it's mostly the other drivers that I don't trust. Plus I only have 2WD...my next vehicle is definitely going to have 4WD.
With that being said, I'll stick to getting in my workout in by trudging through the snow. I must admit that the snow is really pretty...maybe I'll bring my camera with, too. :)
Overall...the past couple weeks have been occupied with work and me trying to balance out my life. I think I'm getting there, but it's still a work in progress. One unfortunate change is that the church group I was going to (Wesley Fellowship) on Sunday nights at 5pm moved to Wednesday nights at 8:30pm. Based off of how the last couple weeks have gone, I don't think I'll be able to attend the Wednesday night service. I wouldn't get home until around 10pm, and I just can't make that work. As work and school take over, I feel my social life shrinking, which I didn't even think was possible since it's been practically non-existent to begin with. But again, like I said, I'm still working on finding the balance.I've been doing a lot of praying and relying on God, so between Him and I, I trust that things will work out as they should in their time. :)
Well, I hope everyone is loving and living life to the fullest! I know that I am sure trying to, but sometimes it just throws you a few curve-balls and requires a lot of patience and a little time.
