1 Week Anniversary

A week ago today I arrived in Boulder, CO! Part of me feels like I've been here much longer, and another part of me feels like it's been much shorter than that. I'm still getting used to things, but I'm just starting to know my way around...I do know how to get to Target without using my phone! Big shocker there...also the fact that it has a Starbucks in it may have been extra motivation to learn the route. I have actually been proud of myself; there are Starbucks everywhere you turn here, and I have managed to steer myself away more times than I thought I could muster. Now that my Keurig is set up, which allows me to make some delicious pumpkin pie flavored coffee, that usually satisfies my coffee addiction. It seems that the more I get used to things here, the more things I notice are missing from back home. There are pros and cons though.

Pros & Cons of Colorado (so far...)

PROS
Willow Trees (I really like willow trees, and there are quite a few here along the paths I walk)
Mountains (I've always loved mountains...their beauty just calms and centers you) *One thing I've found out about mts is that their majestic size can't be captured in pictures very well
Grocery/Food options (I love food, and they have a lot of foods/drinks that I like here)

CONS
Fall colors (There are some colors...but no where near what it is like back home)
No friends—yet! (I know it's still early, but making friends might be a little trickier than I thought...I'm brainstorming though!)
Spending more $$$ (Because there's more stuff I like here, I naturally spend more...I'm establishing rules/budget techniques to try out, and so far it's working alright. Being out here has made me realize that I have more expensive taste than I once thought...)
Miss the feel of "home"/people back home (It's not really homesickness, just missing that "ahh I'm home" feeling)

These are just a couple things that I have noticed. I'm sure the lists (hopefully the pros more than the cons) will continue to grow. In other news...many of you have asked about posting comments. I have all the settings to "Allow Comments" and so you should be able to comment...but none have shown up. :( I apologize for this...I promise I'm not ignoring you! I will try and see if there's anything else I can do to fix it.

This post didn't end up being exactly what I had planned in my head, but it will have to do for the time being. Tomorrow I will hopefully post some more pictures of my mini-adventures I've had so far here in Colorado.

My personal goals at the moment are...
1. Keep up with school work
2. Avoid the possessive powers of the ultimate procrastination king: Netflix

I hope everyone is doing splendidly and got out to enjoy this lovely fall day!

    1. There are! We actually have three of them in our yard in MN. They're kind of dead though...the willow trees just seem to be more abundant and lively here. Haha.
