Meet Torsten

Greetings! Salutations!

I'm trying to think of ways to switch up my "Hello" and "Goodbye", because I'm beginning to feel repetitive. My brains creative juices feel somewhat depleted tonight for some reason, but I will try my best to make sure this post isn't a snoozer.

So, I went for a run on Monday (yeah, I know this falls under the "snoozer" material category, just bear with me), and I nearly died in a freak mountain lion incident...totally kidding (don't go spreading that around; I've never even seen a mountain lion outside of a zoo before)...but hopefully that got your attention! Let me rephrase that: So, I went for a run on Monday, and I nearly died due to the elevation change. That might be is a slight exaggeration, but people don't lie when they tell you that the elevation change will take some getting used to. I managed to run 2.5 miles without stopping, but I was averaging about 9:40min miles versus my usual 8:50min miles back in MN. It was also pretty chilly (mid 40's) and the air was kinda dry, so that probably didn't help either. It was nice to get out for a quick run/jog though. I still have a major love-hate relationship with running; 1/4 love, 3/4 hate. Maybe it'll grow on me...

Meet Torsten!
On Tuesday, I got to spend my first full day with Torsten! It all went fairly well, and I fell back into the role of "infant caretaker" pretty easily. I guess when you've worked with babies/kids your whole life you never really lose that knack. We had a fun day full of floor time, a little bit of tummy time, singing nursery rhymes in front of the mirror while in the baby bjorn, took naps, and we eventually got out for a walk in the stroller. That one day definitely gave me some insight into what the other days will be like so I can schedule our activities accordingly. Maybe I'll even start throwing in some crafts as he gets older. Doing crafts with babies this age is more like doing crafts by yourself and just borrowing their hands/feet, but they still make good memories. :)

On a different note, I've decided to start doing a daily bible verse on my white board. There's something about putting a new verse up everyday that kind of just lifts your spirits. I'm hoping I'll be able to keep it up  every day along with my "read the bible chronologically in one year" readings, which for some reason has 502 readings...I dunno what that's all about, but I'll roll with it.

Well, thus ends my update for today. The rest of my week is Torsten time (Thursday and Friday) and then maybe do some more exploring on the weekend. Oh, and more homework of course! Can't forget about my studies amidst all this excitement.

Have a wonderful evening, and thanks for reading!

♥ Jane
