Gym, Leaves, Plane Tickets
Happy Saturday, everyone!
It's been a beautiful sunny and 60° day here, which is funny because yesterday I woke up to snow on the ground, but it's been kind of an off day. I woke with a headache which rarely happens, and it lingered all morning/afternoon. Going to the gym helped a bit, along with chugging copious amounts of water, so I'm glad it is gone now. I actually met and chatted with a lady at the gym (looked to be in her 50's or even 60's) after my workout for a bit. Her name (I believe) is Diane or Diana...when I met her my communication listening skills (which I'm learning about in a class now for the second time) kicked in, so I repeated her name in my head over and over so I wouldn't forget it. Low and behold, I forgot...but I know it's either one of those two names! She says she goes to the yoga class at Anytime on Monday nights, so I might have to check that out. I'm open to having friends of all ages, but I really should work on meeting people closer to my age. After the gym I got an iced coffee (first drink this week, be proud!) from Starbucks across the way in the Safeway grocery store, and now, here I sit.
I spent this past Thursday and Friday with Torsten, and next week we get back into our "usual" schedule of Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday together. We've had lots of fun reading bible stories, singing and listening to nursery rhymes, going for walks, napping, playing with toys, and more. At this age it's pretty much the same stuff day in and day out; repetition is key. There was one funny incident when we were out for a walk on Thursday afternoon. We were walking on the sidewalk and we encountered a man who was blowing the leaves off the sidewalk. He stepped aside so I could pass, I smiled politely and kept walking, admiring the freshly blown sidewalk (although I personally love stomping through the crunchy fall leaves). We hit the next stretch of sidewalk and encountered a man mowing the lawn, which was spitting all the leaves BACK onto the sidewalk. We passed about two more lawnmowers as we continued along this sidewalk doing the same thing. I felt like I was in a cartoon; I guess you'd just had to have been there...I couldn't help but chuckle. *Note to the lawn/sidewalk caretakers: mowers first, leaf-blowers second.
I know I've only been gone for not even three weeks now, but I already purchased my plane tickets to come home for Christmas! My plane leaves the Denver airport bright and early on Sunday, December 22nd at 6:45am, and I arrive in Minneapolis at 9:40am. I'll be back in Minnesota until January 3rd, so almost a full two weeks! I am very excited to see all my friends and family and spend time with as many people as I can. I am especially looking forward to seeing my church family. Some of the things I am looking forward to most include: cuddling up by the fireplace, skating on the pond, eating oh so delicious julekaka (yummy bread, pronounced you-leh-caw-caw), baking cookies, cuddling with Nellie, eating Grammy's Christmas cookies and other goodies, going to church, and more. :)
I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend so far! Goodbye for now.
